Bjørn Kåre Odde

Bjørn Kåre Odde (b. 1990) is a fiddler, violist and composer living in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway. He has a masters degree in music performance from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

Since the early 2010s, Bjørn Kåre has become one of the most active folk musicians in Norway, and he has distinguished himself as both a concert musician and composer. He has played with several well-known choirs and orchestras both at home and abroad.

As a composer, Bjørn Kåre writes mostly for strings and choir. He has also made symphonic arrangements of his own compositions which were performed by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra with himself as a soloist during the Gudbrandsdal Music Festival in 2022. He has also done several commissioned works for music festivals in Norway.

After releasing dozens of albums with various groups, Bjørn Kåre came out with his first solo album in 2021, "Folk Chamber". The album consists of his own chamber music for strings.

Bjørn Kåre has received several awards for his work as a musician and composer. He was named "Folk Musician of the Year 2019" at the Norwegian folk music awards (Folkelarm), and he has received the Oppland County Council\'s artist grant in 2017 and the Norwegian State\'s artist grant in 2021.

He runs the record label Melovitten together with his wife Solveig Brekke Hauknes.
