Eir Vatn Strøm
Eir Vatn Strøm from Oslo operates within electonic folk music, and her instrument is a combination of vocals, kraviklyre, electronics and lights. She is now current as «Young folk musician of the year 2022» after she won the IntroFolk final during Folkelarm.
With her solo project, she wants to show what Norwegian folk music has to offer and in combination with electronics, a modern, minimalistic and groove-based sound is formed. The lyrics are often sad, and in addition to her own music she uses traditional lyrics and melodies.
She is best known from the group Ævestaden, which has excelled in recent years through releases, concerts and awards. In 2021 they received the Folkelarm Prize and in 2022, the NOPA Prize. Eir\'s biggest sources of musical inspiration are Nils Frahm, Robyn, Sudan Dudan and Sidsel Endresen.
